The HCBU™ Method

Change is often done to people, not with them. The HCBU Method is different. It follows a simple human path:Insight → Reflection → Learning → Sharing → Transformation

The HCBU Method

The HCBU Method is called 'The Human Path' – it's a simple, five-step pathway of:Insight → Reflection → Learning → Sharing → TransformationIt works for individuals, teams, businesses and organisations. It was created as an antedote to disengagement, quite quitting, initiative failure and stalling performance and productivity.

Most change efforts:
Start from systems and frameworks, not people
Look great on the slides but are painfully in reality
Create a burst of energy, then leave numbness and cynicism

You’ve probably seen it:
New values on the wall, same behaviour in meetings
Restructures, “transformations” and AI projects dropped onto people
Staff and Engagement surveys that raise hope and failure to address the very issues highlighted

Unless work is human, creative, bold and unique - the handbreak on expectation, ambition and results will not released.

The Human Path

The HCBU Method follows a simple human sequence. It is simple and it works.Step 1: Insight
Seeing what’s really going on
We start with the HCBU Assessment
– 48 carefully designed questions about how work and life feel.
We look at:
Energy and depletion
Hope and cynicism
Trust and fear
Creativity, boldness and belonging
For individuals, it’s a mirror.
For teams and organisations, it’s a multi-voice picture.
Outcome: You stop guessing. You see patterns. You see where things are thriving, stuck or quietly breaking.Step 2 – Reflection
Insight without reflection just adds noise.
We make space for people to sit with what they’ve seen, tell the truth and connect the dots.

Step 3 – Learning
We introduce ideas and practices to make work more Human, Creative, Bold and Unique – in ways that fit real lives and real constraints.
Step 4 – Sharing
We create spaces where people can share stories, experiments and small wins. Change becomes a shared responsibility, not a lonely burden.

Step 5 – Transformation
We support individuals, leaders and teams over time to make and sustain real changes – not just talk about them once and move on.
You can see this path in action through the HCBU Profile, Reflection Calls, Short Courses, Membership and Coaching Offers.

Principles we won’t compromise on
Intro:
Underneath the Human Path are a few non-negotiables. They shape how we work with you.
Human first
We start with people’s real experiences, not abstract models. Data matters, but humans come first.
With, not to
We work with individuals, teams and leaders – not on them. Change is something we co-create.
Insight before initiative
We don’t rush to solutions. We begin with honest insight and reflection, so any action actually fits.
Depth over theatre
We’d rather help a few people change something real than run a shiny initiative that changes nothing.
Unique, not copy-paste
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Your context, history and people matter. We adapt, not clone.

How the HCBU Method works with youFor individualsIf you’re an individual, the HCBU Method might look like:
An HCBU Profile to map how work and life feel right now
Reflection calls to unpack what’s really going on for you
A 90-day individual journey focused on a small number of changes – boundaries, direction, courage, creativity
We don’t tell you who to be. We help you remember who you are.
For teams and organisationsIf you’re a leader, team or organisation, the HCBU Method might look like:
An HCBU Team or Organisation Profile – multiple voices, one honest picture
Reflection sessions with leaders and teams to sit with what’s surfaced
Short learning sessions on Human, Creative, Bold and Unique ways of working
A 90-day team/leader journey tracking a few clear changes in behaviour, culture and practice
We won’t drop a programme on your people and vanish. We’ll build something with you that your people can actually believe in.

To be clear, the HCBU Method is not:
A generic engagement toolkit you can copy, paste and forget
A way to squeeze more out of people who are already exhausted
A quick-fix performance hack
A “transformation programme” that looks impressive in slides and lands badly in real life
If you want theatre, there are plenty of options.
If you want honest, human change, that’s where HCBU lives.
